Paul Harris is a very high profile figure in the world of dance and he is one of the World's leading Choreographers in film, television and theater. Having trained as both a dancer and at drama school, his body of work is of the very highest calibre and includes devising the physical language for wand combat for the Harry Potter franchise and choreographing 'Harry Potter and The Order of The Phoenix', the famous laser scenes for Catherine Zeta Jones in 'Entrapment', 'The Other Boleyn Girl' and amongst many other credits, he co-choreographed the Disney movie musical 'Cheetah Girls 2' with Kenny Ortgea - Director and Choreographer of the late Michael Jackson. Paul has also choreographed most of the BBC's landmark period television dramas of the last decade and prestiguous West End theatre, including the Old Vic, Shakepeare Globe theater and the Royal Shakespeare Company.
However, Paul Harris began his dance career in competitive dancing and his record is outstanding: As a Juvenile and Junior he was one of the most successful competitors ever, winning the British Championship (Blackpool) in both Ballroom and Latin American dancing. As an Amateur he won many 10 dance titles before concentrating on Latin American - winning the United Kingdom and West European Championships and being the runner up in the World, International and British Latin American Championsips. As a Professional, Paul concentrated on 'Exhibition' (showdance) and again won the British title at Blackpool.
Alongside his impressive career as a Choreographer, Paul has always retained an interest in Ballroom dancing and his brainchild, 'London Theatre of Ballroom', is the only Balroom based dance/theatre company in the UK, having had a critically acclaimed 6month run at the famous Cafe De Paris and played most of the major concert venues in the UK, including the Royal Albert Hall.
As a dance teacher Paul has coached World Champions in Ballroom, Latin American, Salsa and Showdance and has been involved in he development of compeition dancing in The Philippines since the very start. He has coached almost every successful Philippine competitor to date in both Ballroom and Latin American. However his great contribution to Philippine Dancesport was coaching John Co and Edna Ledesma to become champions at Blackpool, when they won the British Senior Latin American Championship 2005. They were the first Philippine couple ever to win (or even make the final) of any event, in any catgeory at Blackpool. Paul almost repeated this in 2011 when he coached Ranelle Espinosa and Marinette Alarilla into 5th place - they became the 2nd Philippine couple to make a final at Blackpool! Paul is currently the National Coach of the Philippine Dancesport team.
